YPIA is expanding its innovative mentoring programs as well as introducing new after school initiative and community-based programs. YPIA combines mentoring, literacy, STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) training, gardening, social and experiential learning to empower youth to become their best selves. We understand that an intervention and prevention model should occur simultaneously in a community to prevent youth from entering the juvenile justice system. To complement group services, every enrolled young person is assessed and provided an individual career plan that will be used to monitor and track their development. In addition to our in-depth model of services for youth, YPIA has planned a calendar of community service and community building events to build the collective spirit of giving and connection that will return tangible value to the community.
Our Triple “P” Program seeks to unite the primary pillars of the community to the youth (Parents, Pastors and Principals) to build character and discipline that will form the foundation of youth’s success. The Triple P Program (P3) was implemented in serving an estimated 200+ youth. Young People in Action will be partnering with local organizations with the intent to create multi-location services, activities and events which will serve youth around the nation.
Intervention Model: Level-Up Mentoring Program provides an opportunity for mentees to recover their identity outside of the cloak of negative stereotypes and be empowered to begin the healing and recovery process through restorative circles. These mentees also need support and skills to advocate for themselves in the home, community and in the schools.
Prevention Model: School-Based Mentoring Programs are designed to support mentees in the school setting with challenges in the classroom who may have some challenges. We provide support in character development, conflict resolution and a host of other skills to enhance the mentee well-being.
YPIA is a proud to offer services and partner with the following schools and organizations:
