Young People in Action (YPIA) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Houston, Texas that provides individualized and group services for under-served youth designed to uncover and develop their academic, creative, and leadership potential. Initially envisioned and incorporated in 1992 by Samuel Frazier, YPIA was relaunched in 2015 under the management of Jonathan Zeigler (Executive Director) and Emmanuel Freeman (Western Region Director/COO) and has since experienced explosive growth.
With a holistic approach from caring professional staff, YPIA uses the latest innovative and effective techniques to deliver the impactful interventions focused on addressing the diverse complex needs of youth in the community. YPIA currently serves youth in three cities (Houston - TX, Los Angeles - CA, and Alexandria - LA) with future plans of expansion.

Jonathan Zeigler - Executive Director
Jonathan Zeigler is a dynamic leader with a long history of working with youth mentoring. He is well rounded with experience in accounting, administration, leadership, and logistics. Jonathan is an Army veteran and has worked with numerous teams to build partnerships and countless trainings.
Jonathan is a graduate of Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Jonathan is also certified as a Master Resilience Trainer from the University of Pennsylvania.

Emmanuel Freeman - Chief Operations Officer
Emmanuel Freeman brings his energy and talents to YPIA as its COO. Like Jonathan, Emmanuel has an extensive history of mentoring youth and a commitment to their continued growth and success. An entrepreneur at heart, Emmanuel is well versed in business operations, systems, marketing/branding, graphic design, special event planning, and program development. Emmanuel also serves as Director of Information & Impact at The Actors Fund and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Benevolent Association. When he isn't empowering youth, Emmanuel consults with small businesses and nonprofits to improve their operations for growth.
Emmanuel is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles where he received his Bachelors of Arts degree. He is also certified in Agency Administration, Regulatory Compliance, and Customer Service.
